Patrick Mahomes’ connections to the Lone Star State are well-documented. The East Texas native graduated from Whitehouse High School before landing at Texas Tech.
He was a multi-sport star as a high schooler, splitting his time between football, baseball and basketball. Coming out of Whitehouse he was ranked as a three-star prospect by Rivals, ESPN and 247 sports.
His senior season he passed for 4,619 yards and 50 touchdowns while rushing for 948 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Mahomes then became one of Texas Tech’s most prolific passers while working under Kliff Kingsbury, closing out his collegiate career with 11,252 yards and 93 touchdowns passing.
Back in 2020, The Dallas Morning News documented the Mahomes Mania that took over his hometown of Whitehouse. Red, gold and white vinyl designs featuring Mahomes’ No. 15 could be seen all over town before the Chiefs played in Super Bowl LIV.
