The Steelers got the ball first in Pittsburgh on Wednesday afternoon, but the Chiefs have the early lead.
Patrick Mahomes hit wide receiver Xavier Worthy for a seven-yard touchdown to cap Kansas City’s first possession of the day. Worthy picked up an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for lifting his shirt as if to show a gun after the score, which forced Harrison Butker to try a longer extra point.
Butker missed it and the Chiefs lead 6-0 with 9:19 to play in the first quarter.
The Chiefs only had to drive 42 yards for the score because Nikko Remigio returned a punt 25 yards to set the Chiefs up in Steelers territory. They ran three times for nine yards to open the drive and then gave it to Kareem Hunt to convert on fourth down. Mahomes hit two other passes and scrambled for 12 yards, but the Chiefs also used two of their three timeouts on the way to the end zone.
