IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – An Iowa Hawkeyes male cheerleader was injured and had to be carted off the court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena during the Iowa game against Minnesota at Carver-Hawkeye Arena Tuesday night.
In a post on X, the Athletic’s Scott Dochterman said it happened when the cheerleader was performing backflips and ended up landing on his head.
As the cheerleader was being carted off the court, he gave a thumbs up to the crowd.
Dochterman would later post an update with a screenshot of another social media image of the cheerleader, which appears to be from a hospital room.
Text on the image says, “The Iowa cheerleader is OK!!! He appreciates all your support, Hawkeye nation.”
Minnesota would go on to beat Iowa in that game, 72-67.
