ELLSWORTH – It’s been a solid golf season for Elise Markham.
On Wednesday, the Cheboygan sophomore added to her impressive campaign by earning All-Northern Shores Conference honors during the conference finals held at Antrim Dells Golf Course in Ellsworth.
Markham’s 18-hole score of 106 not only helped her finish in a tie for seventh individually, but it also secured her a spot on the NSC first team.
“I think Elise has done an excellent job of leading and helping welcome so many new golfers to our team that her making the all-conference first team is well deserved, not only because she earned it with her score, but because she is a great example of how a competitor should treat teammates and competitors,” Cheboygan coach Sean McNeil said.

CHEBOYGAN VOLLEYBALL: What were the main takeaways from Cheboygan volleyball’s match against Boyne City?
Markham lifted the Cheboygan girls, who finished sixth with a 486 score. Taking 22nd overall was Gabrielle Melonas (118), while Caitlin Easter (131) and Jaelyn Garcia (131) tied for 26th, and London Ingalsbe (138) was 29th.
“The girls all have become close to girls on other teams in our conference, so I’m excited for them that we are in one and they get to see familiar faces as they compete,” McNeil said. “I’m also happy that they, like Elise (Markham), are open to competing with honor and respect.”
Harbor Springs (416) won the team title and Charlevoix (422) was second.
