WATCH: Daytona Regional Chamber welcomes PopStroke to Daytona Beach
Daytona Beach Mayor Derrick Henry and the Daytona Regional Chamber cheer the addition of the new mini golf/family fun center to Tomoka Town Center.
DAYTONA BEACH — The new PopStroke miniature golf/family fun center at Tomoka Town Center officially opens to the public noon on Thursday, Hurricane Helena-permitting, of course.
Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce got a sneak peek on Wednesday morning when they held a ribbon-cutting event to celebrate the new high-profile attraction.
Tiger Woods wasn’t there, but the PGA golf legend is one of the Jupiter, Florida-based PopStroke Entertainment Group’s financial backers, as is golf equipment maker TaylorMade.
“Between Tiger and TaylorMade, we have the two biggest names in golf involved,” said Greg Bartoli, the founder and CEO of PopStroke Entertainment Group.
The Daytona Beach location is the chain’s 15th overall and seventh in the state of Florida.
Founded four years ago, the company describes itself as an “experiential golf and casual dining concept” that offers “food and beverage” in a “technologically advanced golf environment.” Its slogan is “Eat. Putt. Drink.”
“Golf resonates with a lot of people and brings people together,” said Bartoli in explaining what gave him the idea for PopStroke. “As a dad of three kids with parents of my own, the fact that we can connect across generations from 3 years old to 80 years old and everything in-between through the great game of golf is what really resonates with me and I think is going to resonate with the great community of Daytona Beach.”
Located on three acres, PopStroke Daytona Beach features two 18-hole mini golf courses complete with fairways, roughs and bunkers, similar to what is found at regular golf courses.
In addition, it offers an outdoor gaming area that will include cornhole, foosball and table tennis, as well as an enclosed outdoor kids playground, an 11,166-square-foot restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, an ice cream parlor and an outdoor beer garden.
PopStroke Daytona Beach is at 1283 Cornerstone Blvd. at Tomoka Town Center. It is directly across the street from the north entrance to Tanger Outlets. It employs 110 workers.
Tomoka Town Center is a shopping center along the east side of Interstate 95. It is on the southeast corner of I-95 Exit 265, also known to locals as the I-95/LPGA Boulevard interchange.
Daytona Beach Mayor Derrick Henry Sr. lives on the other side of I-95 from PopStroke in the LPGA International community. He brought his 12-year-old son Derrick Henry Jr. to the ribbon-cutting and said he looks forward to bringing his entire family to try out the miniature golf courses.
“One of the things that we want more of in Daytona Beach is the sort of experiential entertainment (that PopStroke offers),” he told the gathering of roughly 60 chamber members at the ribbon-cutting. “We welcome 10 million visitors (a year) and oftentimes I’m asked what is there to do in Daytona Beach. For locals and visitors, this is the spot.”
His son Derrick Jr. was eager to try out one of the miniature golf courses at PopStroke, following the ribbon-cutting. “I think this is a great course to putt on,” he said. “It’s harder (than putting greens on regular golf courses) because of all the curves and turns.”
PopStroke Daytona Beach’s regular hours of operation will be Sunday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to midnight. For more information, visit popstroke.com or call 386-342-6360.
