PETERSBURG — The Benefit Gala scheduled to take place at the Petersburg Public Library Conference and Event Center on April 4 has been canceled. The gala would have been hosted by celebrity fitness guru Don “DB Donamatrix” Brooks, a Petersburg native and Virginia State University alum.
The email announcement states, “The decision was made in light of our community being uncertain about funding, employment and the economy. It has been a pretty tough start to the year for all of us. DB Donamatrix sincerely apologizes for having to make this hard decision and appreciates your understanding.”
A full refund will be issued for those who have already reserved tables or seats for The Benefit Gala. For further assistance, email DMT@donamatrix.com. The gala proceeds would have benefitted the City of Petersburg Recreation, Special Events and Volunteerism Department.
The Senior Donamatrix Workout on Thursday, April 3 and Donamatrix Day 2025 Fit Fest on Saturday, April 5 will be held as scheduled. Both community events are free. For more information, visit DonamatrixDay.com or follow on Instagram @donamatrixday.
