The confetti has barely settled from Ohio State’s College Football Playoff national championship and we’re already looking toward next year. The Buckeyes will have a load of talent on both sides of the ball to replace if Ryan Day hopes to repeat a championship run. One of the biggest unknowns? The most important position on the field. Quarterback.
Most believe former five-star prospect, Julian Sayin, will take the reins from Will Howard, but there’s a long way to go before anything is official. One CBS Sports analyst believes Sayin will be QB1 in Columbus and has gone as far as to say he believes the former Alabama transfer will emerge as a superstar in 2025.
Chris Hummer of CBS Sports took to Instagram to share the 15 players he feels will break out in 2025. In addition to Sayin, Hummer lists the likes of Arch Manning of Texas, Dante Moore of Oregon, DJ Lagway of Florida, and Justice Haynes who transferred from Alabama to Michigan earlier this year, among others.
Sayin certainly seems to have the inside track to start for Ohio State come fall when the Buckeyes open with the Longhorns. Devin Brown has transferred to Cal and Sayin was already ahead of Lincoln Kienholz on the depth chart this past year. Of course, OSU has another five-star prospect coming in Tavian St. Clair who will try to push for playing time right away.
We’ll find out a lot more once spring practice begins in March and concludes with the new Spring Showcase on April 12.
