Premium flying has just got fancier for customers with a big enough travel budget. In Qatar Airways’ latest press release, the company has announced that caviar will become a savory menu option for business class passengers. Being an 11-time winner of Skytrax World’s Best Business, Qatar Airways continues to stay ahead of the pack when it comes to providing excellent service to those that pay more for it.
Qatar Airways specifies that caviar will be offered on select flights to and from Hamad International Airport in Doha for business class starting August 15. Here are the other airports where Qatar Airways will bring caviar on board:
Senior vice president product development and design Xia Cai had this to say about the caviar addition to business class flights:
“Qatar Airways takes pride in providing the best premium business class travel experience. The introduction of caviar service, commonly available only in first class cabins, further elevates Qatar Airways’ award-winning business class experience. We are committed to continuously enhance our onboard services to elevate the industry’s standards and delight our passengers.”
Prior to this announcement, caviar has only been served on long-haul first class flights, such as on Boeing 777s or the Airbus A380.
Sources also confirm Qatar Airways will also debut balik-style salmon on business class flights in addition to caviar.
As mentioned previously, caviar is only available to business class customers. It’s the newest addition to the airline’s extensive business class menu. If you’re looking to enjoy caviar on your flight, you can either order caviar on its own or as part of a multi-course meal. Caviar will most likely be found among the selection of appetizers.
Qatar Airways has a free interactive augmented reality (AR) preview of the business class dining experience where you can get a glimpse of your dining area and how you can select menu items during the flight.
If you wish to plan your meal in advance, you can do so on Qatar Airways’ website. Simply go to this link and click on the purple “Manage Booking” button to request a certain meal. The company states that this should be done at least 24 hours before the flight’s departure.
As caviar costs around $40 per pound, this is considered a win for Qatar Airways customers who want to enjoy a luxury delicacy without paying a fortune for it or upgrading to first class. As of now, however, caviar will only be available to select flights to and from Doha, but the door is always open for caviar to become more commonplace in Qatar Airways business class travel.
