The Spaniard advanced from his group with wins over Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev, before falling to Novak Djokovic at the semi-final stage.

Alcaraz qualified for this years event with another stellar season on the ATP Tour.

The 21-year-old won his third Grand Slam earlier this year, as Alcaraz beat Djokovic to defend his Wimbledon title.

He continued his success at the Majors shortly after, as Alcaraz dominated Alexander Zverev to win the French Open for the first time in his career.

The four-time Grand Slam winner also won a Masters 1000 title and an Olympic silver medal in 2024, rounding off another impressive season.

A season, that could get all the more impressive with a big win in Turin.

Carlos Alcaraz feels ‘fresher’ ahead of ATP Finals

Alcaraz struggled with his fitness at the end of his 2023 season, but revealed to Marca that he has been focused on arriving at this year’s ATP Finals in better shape.

“I already said last year that I wanted to be better in this part of the season, to play better tennis, to be better physically and above all mentally, to arrive fresher at this stage,” he said.

“I’m not going to say that I’m completely fresh, but I’m fresher than last year.

“I’d say that I’m arriving at this tournament, which is the penultimate one, in pretty good shape.

“Little things are coming up, but they’re normal.

“I’m facing it motivated and wanting to play good tennis.”

Will Carlos Alcaraz make light work of his ATP Finals group?

Alcaraz fell at the semi-final stage of the ATP Finals last year, eventually losing out to Novak Djokovic in straight sets.

He’ll be looking to do better in 2024, but will need to work his way out of a tough group that includes world number two Zverev, Casper Ruud and Rublev.

The Spaniard was able to avoid two-time Major champion Jannik Sinner in the group stage, however Alcaraz doesn’t seem to be too worried about who he plays.

“It didn’t matter to me, it didn’t matter to me because in the end the eight best players in the world play here and to be the best you have to beat the best,” he said.

“If not in the groups it will be in the semi-finals or the final, if I qualify.”

Alcaraz will be hoping to make it to the semi-finals, but looking at his head-to-head records against his group stage opponents, he might not have things too easy.

The 21-year-old has a positive record against just one of his group opponents in Turin, and will need to hope his fitness holds up in order for him to advance.

Alcaraz begins his ATP Finals campaign against Casper Ruud on Monday.
