Summer travel is at all-time highs and costs are rising for flights and hotels. If you’ve been eyeing a new travel credit card thinking you might be able to take advantage of a welcome bonus to help with those costs, Capital One has heard you.
For a very limited time, Capital One is offering an extra bonus to new applicants, making your next trip even cheaper than before. If you’ve been thinking about applying for a Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, this offer might just be exactly what you need to help you make the decision.
This limited time offer has a total value of $1,000 or more, which makes it the highest that this card has ever been. Considering the annual fee on the card is only $95, this represents a huge value for such a low fee.
One part of the limited time offer is the welcome bonus. When you spend $4,000 in the first three months of card membership, you’ll get 75,000 miles. This equates to at least $750 in travel credit when you redeem your miles in the Capital One Travel portal.
The other part of the welcome bonus is new for the first time ever and marks an intriguing offer for this Venture card. New Capital One Venture cardholders can enjoy a one-time $250 Capital One Travel welcome credit when you open your account. The credit can be used instantly to book flights, hotels, and rental cars on Capital One Travel for your upcoming trip. While you’re able to use the credit right away, the travel credit is good for up to a year, so you’ve got plenty of time to plan for your vacation. Earn 75,000 Miles once you spend $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening, plus receive a one-time $250 Capital One Travel credit in your first cardholder year – that’s equal to $1,000 in travel.

Earning miles is a breeze, as the Capital One Venture card doesn’t have any complicated bonus categories or earning tiers to worry about. For every dollar spent on the card you’ll earn 2X miles with no limit to the number of miles you can earn. If you make any hotel or car rental reservations via the Capital One travel portal, you’ll earn a larger bonus of 5X miles on every purchase.
Capital One also has a robust Entertainment portal where you can earn 5X miles on all your purchases of tickets to concerts, sporting events and other unique experiences.

Once you’ve started earning miles from purchases, the fun part comes in learning how to redeem them. The Capital One Venture card has four main avenues for you to redeem your points.
First, you can use your points to help offset the cost of travel via the Capital One travel portal. Simply make your reservation like normal and at the checkout page, you’ll be able to apply your miles instantly at a rate of 1 cent per point.

Next, you’re able to use your miles to get reimbursed for all your travel purchases that you make outside of the travel portal for things like rental cars, ride shares, cruises, hotels and more.
If you’re looking for gift cards for a special occasion or just simply getting cash deposited into your checking account, Capital One makes that easy. Once you’re logged into your rewards portal, you’ll see the option to move your miles into cash and have them deposited directly into your checking account.
Finally, perhaps the way that offers the most outsized value is transferring your points to Capital One travel partners. Capital One has partnerships with 15 airlines and hotels including popular airlines like Air France and Air Canada and hotel chains like Choice Privileges, Accor Hotels and even Virgin Hotels. Our Senior Editor Dia Adams, recently used Capital One Miles, transferred to Air Canada, to fly to Panama for just 25,000 miles in business class.

Earning double miles with every dollar is a great perk, but the card comes with a few other unique benefits that make the Venture Card a winner.
The Capital One Travel portal has built in features that help you get the best deals on your travel. Once you book your travel you’ll get free price drop protection so if the price lowers, Capital One will proactively let you know and refund you the difference in price.
If you’re on the fence about buying you can also take advantage of price alerts and price prediction technologies, to let you know when the best time to buy is. If you need a little bit more time to make your decision, you can freeze your flight price while you get your travel plans sorted, and if something should happen to your flight on the day of travel, you can get rebooked to a new flight or get reimbursed via special Capital One tools.
Lastly, Capital One has a selection of special hotels and vacation rentals as part of their Lifestyle Collection. Each of the hand-picked hotels comes with a $50 credit, room upgrades, and even early check in, based upon availability.
It’s pretty hard to find a welcome bonus worth four figures, and this limited time offer from Capital One for its Venture card is one that you shouldn’t pass up.
The $250, available to be used immediately, more than offsets the $95 annual fee, and the large 75,000 miles welcome bonus helps to make the rest of your travel cheaper than ever. Since this is a limited time offer, you’ll want to make sure you apply soon to not miss out on the extra credit.
