Canterbury Park’s request for a 51-day horse racing season in 2025, running Saturday, May 24 through Saturday, Sept. 20, was approved today by the Minnesota Racing Commission.
Racing will be conducted on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 5 p.m. central and Sundays at 1 p.m. Six Thursday racing programs beginning at 5 p.m. are also scheduled. Post time for the final week of live racing will be 4 p.m.

The season begins one week later and concludes one week earlier than the 2024 season. The 51-day schedule, three fewer dates than 2024, was agreed upon by track management and the Minnesota HBPA which represents thoroughbred racehorse owners and trainers.
Canterbury Park’s racing officials expect to publish the first condition book and 2025 stakes schedule early in the first quarter with stall applications available in March and due in mid-April. The stable area and racetrack, which over the past three years has undergone a $15 million improvement investment, will open for arrivals in the second week of May.
The Minnesota Racing Commission, a nine-member panel, is appointed by the state’s governor and tasked with overseeing the integrity and safety of horse racing at Minnesota’s two pari-mutuel racetracks.
