The functionaries and members of the Indian Pravasi Movement (IPM) organised a candlelight vigil on the S.M. Street in Kozhikode city on Saturday (December 14) seeking the immediate intervention of the Union government to send a delegation to Qatar for facilitating the speedy release of around 600 Indian prisoners.
The candlelight vigil that also drew the participation of the family members of some of the imprisoned Keralites paid tribute to the Indian prisoners who died in various Qatar jails in the past.
Former Member of Parliament Ramya Haridas opened the gathering. IPM president R.J. Sajith presided over the programme.
