The early college football signing period for the Class of 2025 was just last week, but already the BYU Cougars are getting a strong start on their 2026 recruiting class by way of a legacy recruit.
On Tuesday evening, cornerback Justice Brathwaite out of Higley High in Gilbert, Arizona, announced his commitment to the Cougars, becoming the first prospect in the Class of 2026 to do so.
Brathwaite’s father, Reynaldo, was a running back at BYU in the early 2000s. In 2003, he finished with a team-high 812 rushing yards with two touchdowns to go along with 100 receiving yards. He also set a school record that still stands by taking a carry 95 yards for a touchdown against San Diego State, the longest run from scrimmage in program history.
