A masked individual is wanted by York County police for stealing five sports cards from a local vendor at a community marketplace, according to a police report.
The owner of the cards told police a motion sensor at his vendor space at the Morning Sun Marketplace on Route 30 in Thomasville alerted him to the burglar, who was wearing a white mask and blue Nautica jacket, around 1 a.m. on Tuesday.
The owner drove to the market to check on his space, where he saw the burglar who then took off, police said. A video of the theft was included in the police report.
Five sports cards, graded for quality by professional companies, were stolen, including a 1986 Michael Jordan basketball rookie card, a 1934 Lou Gehrig baseball card and a 1947 Jackie Robinson baseball card. That was Robinson’s first season in Brooklyn. The remaining two cards were a 2023 Paolo Banchero basketball card and a 2005-06 Alex Ovechkin NHL rookie card.
The five stolen cards have a combined retail value of $14,000, according to police.
Anyone who can identify the suspect in the video or has information regarding this incident is asked to call the Northern York County Regional Police Department at 717-467-8355 or email tips@nycrpd.org.
