The Milwaukee Bucks have been better lately but are still technically average at 11-11. It’s fair to suggest that they didn’t want to enter the season as the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference standings.
If they find themselves around the same winning percentage come January, they might need to make some changes. If they do, Fadeaway World floated Damian Lillard as a potential trade target for the Houston Rockets.
The Rockets have been one of the NBA’s surprise teams this season. Their success has made them one of the better teams in the Western Conference, with a record of 15-8.
At the same time, because they’re so young, not many believe that this newfound success will extend into the playoffs. That’s where Lillard would come in.
To acquire Lillard, they suggested that the Rockets send out Fred VanVleet along with some of their younger players, such as Tari Eason and Reed Sheppard.
A trade like that would make the Bucks younger and more athletic. That is something the Bucks need. VanVleet is a downgrade from Lillard, but he’s younger and a better defender. Even better than that, he’s an NBA Champion. He knows what it takes to reach that level, and the Bucks could use more of those player archetypes, too.
This is a drastic measure for the Bucks, but they haven’t exactly shown that they’ve improved much after everything that went wrong last season. This season was about proving that last season was just a hiccup, and they failed.
For now, the Bucks will let things be because their focus is working Khris Middleton back into playing shape. However, if things don’t get that much better, this isn’t a terrible idea for them to consider.
