Amid a long and trying season, the Cleveland Browns are on to their third starting quarterback.
The Browns are benching turnover-prone Jameis Winston in favor of second-year QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson for Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday.
The move ends Winston’s seven-game tenure as Cleveland’s QB1 following Deshaun Watson‘s season-ending Achilles injury. Those seven games saw some offensive highmarks for the Browns, but ultimately too many low moments marred by turnovers.
Winston threw for 2,121 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, but he also had 12 interceptions, including eight over the past three games — all losses.
Winston was benched during the Browns’ Week 15 loss to the Chiefs, which proved a signal of Cleveland’s future pivot to Thompson-Robinson.
Thompson-Robinson started three games as a rookie last season and is 15 of 34 with three interceptions in four appearances in 2024.
The Browns (3-11) kick off in Cincinnati on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
