The Deshaun Watson experience has been a complete and utter failure. It’s getting harder and harder to imagine the team’s future with the beleaguered quarterback. The Browns have spent three seasons treading water without significant draft capital.
This offseason they will find themselves in the same place they were in three years ago. They were staring at their divisional rivals and their award-winning, franchise quarterbacks with envy. This year the Browns can reset their timeline by drafting a quarterback.
Jalen Milroe is the most gifted quarterback in the 2025 Draft class. The senior is 6’2 225 pounds of pure muscle. He has a powerful arm, and the speed to outrun the quickest defenders. He is a weapon that can threaten any part of the field.
Milroe doesn’t have the production to match potential-first-round picks Cam Ward, and Quinn Ewers nor does he have the experience and pocket presence of Shedeur Sanders. The missing parts of his résumé could make him slip in the draft.
Milroe is still raw, starting 17 games so far in his career. Milroe spent last season under the guidance of current Browns’ tight end coach, and former Alabama offensive coordinator, Tommy Rees. Milroe and Rees had a successful year based on run-pass-options. Their season was cut short in the Rose Bowl after a botched snap on fourth down ruined a good play.
Milroe has spent the past season evolving his game under the guidance of new coach Kalen DeBoer. The quarterback is the star of Alabama’s deep passing attack. On Saturday night, he will have his first real season test as the Alabama Crimson Tide take on the Georgia Bulldogs.
