SAN FRANCISCO — The feel-good family stories have been a theme for the Memphis Grizzlies during their weekend trip in California.
On Friday, Grizzlies assistant coach Anthony Carter happened to be working and seeing his son, Devin Carter, make his Sacramento Kings debut against Memphis.
Rookie forward Jaylen Wells, a Sacramento native, got a chance to catch up with his family and friends in his first visit back home since joining the NBA.
On Saturday, it was Cam Spencer’s turn. The rookie guard got a unique opportunity when he checked into the game against the Golden State Warriors.
Across from him was his older brother, Pat, who plays for the Warriors. The Spencer brothers not only shared the floor, but they also guarded each other for multiple possessions.
Cam Spencer is in his first season with the Grizzlies. Pat Spencer, 28, is in Year 2 with the Warriors.
This is the third meeting between the teams, but it was the first time both players had a chance to get on the floor. Cam Spencer had yet to make his season debut during the first game. He played in the second matchup, but Pat Spencer wasn’t active for that game.
