Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James made his G League debut on Saturday night.
James finished with six points as the South Bay Lakers defeated the Salt Lake City Stars by the final score of 110-96.
He also recorded three rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block. James missed all four of his three-point attempts and shot 2-5 from inside the arc.
James started off strong, hitting a pull-up jumper that represented South Bay’s first points of the night.
He showcased his potential throughout the first half despite the inconsistent offensive performance, as he connected on a floater off the dribble and threw a lob to teammate Kylor Kelley.
The 20-year-old’s South Bay debut drew a star-studded audience that included Anthony Davis and the rest of the James family as well as Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka.
Quincy Olivari, who signed a two-way contract with the Lakers on Oct. 19, finished with a team-high 28 points on 8-19 shooting.
With the No. 55 overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft out of head coach JJ Redick’s rotation on a Los Angeles team with playoff aspirations, the Lakers assigned James to the G League on Thursday to give him more playing time.
He’s only expected to play in G League home games as he transitions between both teams, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.
South Bay’s next home game will be on Nov. 17 against the Stockton Kings.
