Sophomore Brock Snyder of University of Missouri men’s golf is tied for first place after the opening day of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate in Lihue, Hawaii.
Snyder matched his career-best score with a four-under 66 on Thursday, finishing in a tie for first place with No. 14 Jackson Buchanan of Illinois. Snyder recorded a clean scorecard in the first 18 holes, registering four birdies with zero bogeys to lead the Tigers in the 101-golfer field.
Classmate Veikka Viskari wasn’t far behind Snyder as he carded an even-par 70 and is in 15th place after the opening day, balancing three birdies with three bogeys.
Overall, the duo led Mizzou to a seventh-place team result through 18 holes in a tournament that features 17 schools, including seven in the top 41 nationally. The Tigers carded a total score of +6 with No. 16 Utah the only school finishing under par at -7.
Day two is set for Friday with a 1 p.m. CT / 9 a.m. HT tee time.
