A British “crazy golf” club is bringing its elevated mini-golf experience to Boston by partnering with a restaurant group with local ties and intends to open a new clubhouse space in the city’s Back Bay by fall of 2025.
Called “Swingers,” the brand brings an “enhanced” version of mini-golf with DJs, craft cocktails and gourmet street food to its locations, according to Swingers in a joint news release with Tavistock Restaurant Collection — its local partner — who will launch the new location together.
Swingers will open its Boston clubhouse at 777 Boylston St. in the Back Bay — a building owned by Tavistock, whose portfolio also includes the restaurants Abe & Louie’s, Atlantic Fish Co. and Joe’s on Newbury in the city.
The companies said Swingers’ new Boston location will occupy 21,000 square feet of space on the second and third levels of the building sandwiched between Abe & Louie’s and Atlantic Fish Co.
“A hub for fun and fine dining, the venue is based around an immersive 1920s English country golf club design with a collection of quirky and fun mini golf courses, several cocktail bars, elevated street food, ands the brand’s third ‘Swingers Carnival,’ an old-fashioned arcade feature,” the companies said.
The Boston location plans to be the fourth U.S. location for Swingers, having previously opened in New York City and Washington, D.C., with additional plans to open a location in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Opening a Swingers in Boston has been a long-held ambition for us, and we knew the Back Bay would be the perfect neighborhood for our uniquely premium and fun concept,” said Matt Grech-Smith in a statement. Grech-Smith is the co-founder and co-CEO of Competitive Socialising, the company behind Swingers.
