Brighton vs Canandaigua score, updates from Section V Class A football final

This season’s Section V Class A football championship features one of the Rochester area’s winningest programs, against another looking for its first title.

Top-seeded Brighton (10-0) will take on Canandaigua (9-1) for all the marbles on Saturday. The teams, despite competing in the same division, did not meet during the regular season.

This is Brighton’s second straight trip to the Class A final, after falling to East High/World of Inquiry in last year’s championship. The Bruins reached the championship game thanks to a 21-20 win over Monroe last week, on Amari Snowden‘s touchdown (and Grady Hopkin‘s PAT) with less than four minutes remaining. Gavin Parks is Brighton’s top offensive player, with 1,484 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns on the season.

Canandaigua won four straight Section V titles from 2019 to 2022, and returns to the final after a one-year absence. The Gray Wolves knocked off Webster Schroeder and Brockport in decisive fashions through the first two rounds. Running back Trey Comella (1,044 rushing yards, 15 total touchdowns) and quarterback Drew Williamee (948 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, 4 interceptions) are Canandaigua’s top offensive threats.
