Mizzou’s success in the transfer portal was already one of the best in the nation.
After a brief hiatus from the heater, the Tigers scored another massive commitment right before the men’s hoops team was set to battle Florida. Georgia defensive end Damon Wilson II announced his commitment to the Tigers on Thursday.
The Florida native was ranked as the top available transfer and the No. 5 overall transfer. He’s also tied with Cayden Green for the highest-rated transfer that Mizzou has ever landed. The Tigers currently sport the No. 3-ranked transfer class per On3, trailing only Texas Tech and Ole Miss.
Wilson played two seasons at Georgia, although he played only 75 snaps during his freshman campaign. This past season, Wilson registered 22 total tackles, six tackles for loss and three sacks. He also forced and recovered two fumbles.
His addition will be especially welcome for a defensive line that’s losing Johnny Walker Jr., who racked up 44 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks, the most by a Tiger in a single season since Shane Ray in 2014.
Along with Mizzou, Wilson also visited Ohio State last week. However, just like last season’s Cotton Bowl, the Tigers emerged victorious over the Buckeyes.
