After another successful season on the pitch, the North Allegheny boys’ soccer team had seven players earn Big 56 All-Section honors. Seniors Nathan Katari, Mykola Desysenko, Leonardo Yu, Caleb Rumberger and Ryan Young all earned first team laurels while seniors Zach Nash and Lucas Henderson were named to the second team.
Katari was a multi-year starter and team captain who was tied for the team lead in goals this season at 10. Last week, he was named to the WPSCA All-State and All-WPIAL Team. Katari was also a Big 56 All-Section Second Team selection last season.
Yu and Rumberger were both Big 56 Honorable Mention players last season. Yu tallied two goals on the season and both were game-winners, first against eventual WPIAL champion Fox Chapel and also in the WPIAL Quarterfinals breaking the scoreless tie against North Hills. Rumberger tallied three goals while being a major part of the team’s offensive attack. This was the first all-section selection for Young, who was in net for most of the season as the team earned 11 shutouts.
Nash has been selected as an All-WPIAL player each of the last two seasons while earning 1st-team All-Big 56 honors in 2023. The multi-sport athlete and captain was third on the team with seven goals this season. Henderson was crucial on throw-ins and sparks to the offense and transition game this season for the Tigers. This is his first all-section selection.
