Mirra Andreeva has been backed to contend for Grand Slam titles and potentially crack the top five of the WTA Rankings in 2025.
Teen star Andreeva, who turned 17 in 2024, is one of the brightest prospects on the WTA Tour and has risen up the rankings dramatically since her breakthrough at the Madrid Open in 2023.
This past season saw the Russian make a significant breakthrough, most notably stunning Aryna Sabalenka at the French Open to reach her first Grand Slam semi-final in Paris.
Andreeva would go on to win her first WTA singles title in Iasi and reach the biggest final of her career at the WTA 500 event in Ningbo, where she fell to Daria Kastakina.
After her Roland Garros breakthrough, the 17-year-old failed to make much of an impact at Wimbledon or the US Open, falling in Round 1 and Round 2 respectively.
However, she reached the quarter-finals of three WTA 1000 events in 2024 and cracked the top 20, finishing the season at a career-high of world No 16 – moving up 30 spots across the season.
Now, with the 2025 season beginning on Friday, the teenager has been backed to improve even further over the next 12 months by legendary coach Rick Macci.

Macci, who famously worked with the likes of Serena and Venus Williams, posted on Twitter/X that she would have a “front row” seat at the Grand Slams – and make a huge rankings breakthrough.
He wrote: “Everything in life is in the EYE OF THE BEHOLDER. From the eyeball test there is 17 reasons why Mirra Andreeva the Russian Rocket will have a front row seat at every Grand SLAM and be top 5 by end of 2025 AS SHE IS ONLY 17!”
Andreeva will start her 2025 campaign at the Brisbane International next week, where she joins the likes of Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula in the draw.
The world No 16 is currently set to be the ninth seed at the WTA 500 event, though could move up should a player withdraw before the draw is revealed.
Andreeva is then set to play in the Adelaide International the following week, before heading to Melbourne for the Australian Open.
The Russian’s debut in Melbourne last year was a memorable one, with the then-16-year-old reaching the fourth round Down Under.
Andreeva famously dropped just two games in an emphatic second-round victory over sixth seed Ons Jabeur, before rallying from 5-1 down in the deciding set to defeat Diane Parry in Round 3.
She was then beaten by Barbora Krejcikova in the fourth round and will look to match that run at the very least in 2025.
