STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Talk about bad parking.
A boat has been abandoned in a parking lot of a popular shopping plaza on the West Shore.
An Advance/SILive.com reader reported on Tuesday that the vessel had been left in the parking lot of the West Shore Plaza in Bloomfield.
The cabin cruiser could still be seen in the lot on Thursday morning.
The orange-and-white boat was left resting on the asphalt near one of the entrances to the shopping plaza.
The vessel’s front windshield and side windows have been broken, leaving pebbled shards of glass on the ground of the West Shore Plaza parking lot.
The inside of the cabin cruiser was filled with debris, including black plastic garbage bags, a ship’s pillow, more broken glass, brown paper bags, empty drink cans and bottles and an empty plastic bucket.
The boat’s engine is visible in the back of the boat amid a tangle of wires, plastic tubing and pipes. The vessel’s bent propeller could be seen resting on the ground.
Some of the markings on the boat’s side appear to have been damaged.
Graffiti has been scrawled on the side of the cabin cruiser, with more graffiti visible near one of the broken windows.
A trailer marked with an “EZ Loader” sticker could be found resting in a parking spot a short distance from the abandoned boat.
EZ Loader Boat Trailers Inc. is based in Spokane, Wash., and has been in business since 1953.
The trailer, with at least one flat tire, is also decorated with a bumper sticker from the Great Oak Marina in St. James, N.Y.
It is not known if the boat and the trailer are in any way connected.
The shopping plaza is home to popular businesses like Burlington, Chuck E. Cheese and Planet Fitness.
The state Department of Motor Vehicles office can also be found there.
