In what is becoming a regular piece of our Denver Broncos news cycle, rookie Bo Nix has taken his third consecutive NFL Rookie of the Week award. He becomes the first Bronco player to win this award three straight weeks and is one shy from tying the team’s all-time record held by Knowshon Moreno in 2009.
Against the Las Vegas Raiders, Bo Nix went 25/49 for 273 yards and two touchdowns. During that three-game span, Nix has completed 71.4% of his passes for 795 yards and eight touchdowns. He has zero turnovers over that span as well. For a rookie, Bo Nix is playing lights-out football.
According to NextGen Stats, there are only two rookies in NFL history to have a three-game span like this one.
Bo Nix was efficient against the Raiders’ zone coverage in Week 12, completing 17/21 attempts for 170 yards (+3.7% CPOE), opposed to completing just 8/21 pass attempts for 103 yards and 2 TDs against man coverage (-16.1% CPOE). Nix and Dak Prescott (Weeks 9-11, 2016) are the only rookie QBs since 1970 to have 8+ passing TDs and 0 INTs in a 3-game span
This kind of run should surely put Nix in as one of the frontrunners for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. That race sure looks like its down to him and the Washington Commanders quarterback, Jayden Daniels.
As we celebrate Thanksgiving around the country today, Broncos Country has something a little bit more to be thankful for this year. It’s been a long eight years post-Peyton Manning, but it looks like we’re finally emerging from that dark age.
Go Broncos!
