“There’s probably been seven times that I won a million dollars. But there’s probably been 25 times I’ve lost a million.” Charles Barkley candidly spoke about his gambling issues on Club Shay Shay earlier this year. That’s not it; Chuck has even lost $100,000 in nearly every Super Bowl because he was betting against Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes. Recently, Blake Griffin shared a story about how the 76ers legend was so unfazed by his loss.
“Barkley was hilarious though, like I never really spent a lot of time, like off the court or away from basketball around Barkley and we were; we were gambling one night, he comes by, and he’s like, I’m like, ‘What’s Up, Champ?“” The former Clippers star spoke to Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz and even mimicked Charles Barkley’s voice. “He’s like, man, I just lost 1.5. I’m like, he’s like, brought a million, lost it. Bought five, lost it. He’s like, ‘I’m going to do karaoke.’ That was awesome.”
The 6x All-Star also spoke about how good host Chuck was and kept everybody entertained. “Takes a special person to be able to give that much energy to everybody. But you’re right, he does it and does it, and it seems genuine… It’s not like he’s just like, ‘Hey, how you doing? Keep it moving,’ he stops and talks to you. It’s pretty awesome,” via Golf’s Subpar.

Even though Sir Charles lost a bit of money, he earned a lot of praise for his golfing. In fact, it was the best ACC year for the 61-year-old, as he finished 58, higher than other celebrities. Travis Kelce finished 63rd, while Blake Griffin had a forgetful outing with his 72nd position and a score of -21.
The 11x All-Star might have picked up a better swing for golf, but losing money in gambling continues. During one of the Inside the NBA segments, Chuck lost money to his best friend and analyst, Shaquille O’Neal. Last year, he predicted that Miami would beat Boston by exactly 10 points, and Charles Barkley was confident and bet against Shaq.

At halftime, they seemingly doubled their arrangement, and the Lakers legend was the eventual winner. He even had bundles of bills and used it as a phone and mocked the Auburn graduate. The mocking from friends is not a new thing for Barkley. Recalling a time when he quit gambling for two years, his friends gave him a reality check.
“I said, ‘Well, man, I was getting out of hand.’ They’re like, ‘Yo, man, you’re gambling ain’t getting out of hand. You just a idiot.’” But Charles Barkley won’t stop gambling, as he once said he could afford to gamble. After all, the TNT offers him $21 million a year.
