BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Harding men’s golf made a significant move up the leaderboard on day one of the Tulsa Cup, jumping from fifth to second place after two rounds at Indian Springs Country Club.
The 30th-ranked Bisons carded a 36-hole total of 608 (309-299), six strokes behind leader Washburn. Harding is tied with Southwestern Oklahoma for second place.
Seventeen teams are competing in the tournament, but five did not complete the second round due to darkness. Those teams will resume play Tuesday at 8 a.m., with the third round starting at 9:30 a.m.
Jose Arzu led Harding, tying for ninth at 5-over 149. Dennis Staykov is tied for 17th at 7-over 151, while Jose Manuel Peralta is tied for 29th at 10-over 154. Finlay Cummings and Wilmer Haakansson are tied for 72nd at 19-over 163.
Harding excelled on par 4s, playing them at 27-over, second only to Rogers State. Arzu and Staykov both carded even-par scores on par 4s, the best performance in the tournament. Arzu leads the tournament with seven birdies, and Staykov paced Harding with 24 pars.
The Bisons will look to close the gap with Washburn when the final round begins Tuesday.
