Jamie Kah struggled to fight back tears as she paid tribute to one of her mentors, Col McKenna, who passed away recently.
“He was just the best person … it doesn’t feel real,” she told media post-race.
“The last message I had to Col was what I thought of Another Wil in the Toorak … he just said ‘no, she is just a Jamie horse’ and I’m glad he was right.”
The gelding produced a stellar run up the inside to get home in a thrilling finish.
“I trust this horse, he has done it before and pushed his way through gaps,” Kah said.
“I wasn’t worried … me and Ciaron spoke briefly before and he said to get him cover.
