North Carolina football, under the direction of Bill Belichick, continues to shape together the football coaching staff for the next season. That list now includes another big name from a CFP-featured program.
Matt Lombardi is expected to join Bill Belichick and UNC football as an offensive assistant that might rise as high as the quarterback’s coach for Belichick, a position Lombardi is not new to.
Currently, with the Ducks, Lombardi is an offensive analyst. However, he has spent time in the NFL with numerous organizations, including an assistant quarterbacks coach with the Carolina Panthers and an offensive assistant coach with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Lombardi was part of Oregon’s success this season rising as one of the best offenses in college football as the Big Ten champion and No. 1 team in the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff.
North Carolina is expected to hire Oregon staffer Matt Lombardi as an offensive assistant coach, potentially as QB coach, sources tell @CBSSports/@247Sports.

Belichick started by hiring Michael Lombardi as the team’s general manager. He continued by keeping Freddie Kitchens, who has been rumored to be the team’s new offensive coordinator. Stephen Belichick joined the staff as the team’s defensive coordinator coming over from Washington.
Who could be the next name that Belichick hires? He has been rumored to be in talks with several exiting New England Patriots coaches as well as some other top college football talent.
