The International Cricket Council (ICC) is in a sticky situation regarding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to the ongoing tension between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). India have refused to travel to Pakistan for the tournament, while Pakistan have threatened to withdraw from the event if its hosting rights are taken away.
The India National Cricket Team has not received government permission, and the BCCI has informed the ICC about this.
ICC is ready to play the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in a hybrid model, but PCB has refused to accept the change. The tournament could also move out of Pakistan, but this would see the Men in Green withdraw from the event.
South Africa is one of the options if the blockbuster tournament is held outside the sub-continent nation.
However, a fresh report in PTI has revealed that ICC had to cancel the launch event of the Champions Trophy 2025, which was supposed to be held on November 11 in Lahore. It will take place after some time.
The PCB has written a letter to the ICC asking them to get written confirmation from the BCCI for not sending their team to Pakistan. The tournament schedule hasn’t been released by the ICC as the officials are still consulting the hosts and the participating nations.
