Rudy Gobert continues to be a walking double-double, and we expect the elite rim protector to shine down low against Zach Edey and the Grizzlies.

With several postponements, there are only four games on the NBA odds board today. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t value to be found in the player prop markets.
Lauri Markkanen and the Jazz could pose a problem for the struggling Suns, and Rudy Gobert could teach Zach Edey a thing or two. Meanwhile, will Terry Rozier find his shooting form starting in place of Jimmy Butler?
Here are my NBA picks for Saturday, January 11.
Picks made on 1-11 at 2:00 p.m. ET.
The Phoenix Suns are going to have to figure things out quickly. The Suns enter tonight with a 17-19 record and have lost 11 of their last 16 games overall.
While they are 11-point home favorites tonight as they welcome the 9-27 Utah Jazz to town, there are a few reasons why the road team can keep this one close.
For all the Jazz’s flaws, they put in work on the glass and Lauri Markkanen is no different, averaging 6.1 rebounds per game. Those numbers have actually dipped a bit lately but that’s giving us some value on Markkanen’s rebounding prop, which is set at 5.5.
Markkanen will match up against a Suns team that ranks 19th in rebounding rate and 18th in opponent rebounds per game. The Jazz also play at the third-highest pace in the NBA, offering more possessions and chances at rebounds.
It doesn’t hurt that our Covers Prop Projections have Markkanen pegged for 7.2 boards, so I’m taking his alt line of 7+ rebounds at plus money.
The Memphis Grizzlies visit the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night and one of the most intriguing matchups will take place down low between four-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert and potential Rookie of the Year Zach Edey.
Edey is showing great potential, averaging 10.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game this season — but he could get a little lesson in footwork from Gobert.
Gobert continues to do his thing, having recorded 17 double-doubles on the season. While it’s usually points that are the problem for Gobert when it comes to double-doubles, I like this matchup for him against Edey and the Grizz.
This matchup should mean more minutes for Gobert to stuff the stat sheet, with Memphis ranking 20th in the NBA in opponent points in the paint per game. On top of that, the Grizzlies foul a lot. In fact, Memphis commits the second-most fouls per game in the NBA, with Edey accounting for 2.8 of them per game.
The Grizzlies also play at the highest pace in the NBA, meaning more possessions and more opportunities to score and grab boards. I love backing Gobert to get double-double No. 18 tonight.
The Jimmy Butler drama has forced Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra to juggle his lineups, and part of that has been moving Terry Rozier into the starting lineup.
It has been a roller-coaster season for Rozier. He began the season as a starter for the Heat but was relegated to the bench midway through November. This is mostly due to the fact that Scary Terry is having one of the worst shooting seasons of his career, hitting shots at only a 29.2% clip from downtown.
But with Butler now suspended for conduct detrimental to the team, Rozier has been made a starter once again, and the opportunities are there. Rozier is averaging 12.4 field goal attempts per game as a starter opposed to just 9.5 as a reserve.
And if there is a team he should be able to find his shooting stroke against, it’s the Portland Trail Blazers. The Blazers come into this matchup ranked 26th in defensive rating, opponent effective field goal percentage, and opponent 3-point shooting percentage.
Rozier’s point total is sitting at a modest 12.5, and despite his shooting struggles, he’s still eclipsed this number in five of his last nine games. In this matchup, I like the value with him to do it again.
