The Cincinnati Bengals will be wearing head-to-toe orange for their Sept. 8 season opener against the New England Patriots.
The Bengals debuted the all-orange uniforms on Friday with a video on X.
The uniforms feature orange pants, an orange shirt with stripes on the shoulders, and a striped orange helmet.
The Bengals aren’t just expecting their players to wear orange for the season opener. They’re asking fans arriving at Paycor Stadium for the first game of the season to don orange as well.
Bengals players have never worn orange pants since their first NFL season in 1968, and only added orange jerseys in 2004, per the Gridiron Uniform Database.
Since the team’s last uniform redesign in 2016, the Bengals have only paired the orange jerseys with black or white pants.
The news of the orange pants’ debut first broke on Monday, when fans discovered that orange alternate pants were a Bengals uniform option on EA Sports’ Madden NFL 25.
The Bengals first asked for a “source” on the news, before posting a first photo of the new pants an hour later:
The Bengals now join the Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos as the only three teams in the NFL with orange pants as a uniform option, per Phil Hecken of Uni Watch.
This is not the only special uniform the Bengals will be donning this season. The team announced last week players will wear all-white uniforms against the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 27.
Because NFL teams can wear alternate jerseys up to three times per season, there could be one more alternate announcement coming for Cincinnati fans.
