Ben Shelton of the United States will take on Daniil Medvedev of Russia in the first singles match on Day 3 of the 2024 Laver Cup. Shelton will try to give Team World their fourth singles win of the event, though he needs to bring his A-game because he’s up against one of Team Europe’s finest in Daniil Medvedev. The hard-hitting American seeks to avenge his Day 2 singles loss to Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 4-6. In that match, Shelton fired four aces but could not break the Spaniard in five chances. Medvedev will also attempt to give Team Europe a much-needed singles win after losing to Frances Tiafoe 3-6 6-4 10-5 on Day 2. Medvedev won 67 percent of his first serves but he had a hard time defending against Tiafoe, scoring 18 of the possible 61 return points in the match.
