BROKEN ARROW, Okla. —- The Minnesota State men’s golf team finished the first two rounds of the Tulsa Cup in 12th place.
The Tulsa Cup is being played at par 72 Club at Indian Springs. The course consists of four par threes and four par fives. Seventeen teams are competing at the event, including Sioux Falls and Augustana from the NSIC.
As a team, MSU shot 312-307–619 (+43) to finish the day in 12th. Washburn leads the team standings with a 302-300–602 (+26). Dawson Ringler leads the field individually with a 7-76–146 (+2).
“Unfortunately it was not our day today,” head coach Alex Schmitz said. “Granted the wind was howling we need to do a better job hitting the shot in front of us and not getting frustrated and the things we can’t control. We hope to play better in the wind tomorrow”
The Mavericks tallied a 312-307—619 (+43), while Washburn leads the field with a 302-300—602 (+26). Dawson Ringler from Sioux Falls leads the individual field with a 70-76—146 (+2).
Junior Marcus Belka sits three strokes back from the leader in a tie for ninth place with a 74-75—149 (+5). Sophomore Karson Patten tallied a 78-78—156 (+12) to finish in a tie for 38th.
Senior Ryan Darling added an 84-73—157 (+13) as he finished the day in a tie for 44th, while junior Hogan Ordal shot an 81-81—162 (+18). Senior Alex Bradley posted a 79-86—165 (+21) as well.
