The high school winter sports season is under way.
After a couple of weeks of tryouts and practices, the games have begun. This week marked the start of girls and boys action in basketball, hockey, wrestling, indoor track, swimming/diving, gymnastics and skiing.

Bridgewater-Raynham’s Camden Strandberg had a double-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 steals in a 45-16 season-opening win over Rockland. Ally Piecewicz (8 points, 2 rebounds) and Jenna Micciantuono (7 points, block) also starred for the Trojans.
Archbishop Williams beat Cohasset, 48-22, to present new coach Sarah Behn with her first victory. The Bishops were led by Aivry Devoy (18 points), Jenna Mishou (12 points, 11 rebounds) and Alana McNamara (11 points, 15 rebounds).
Holbrook’s Ashya Dingle had 24 points, 5 rebounds and 12 steals in a 62-16 win over South Shore Charter. Makayla Hopkins (14 points, 11 rebounds) and Emma Tran (12 points, 5 assists) also starred.
Brockton’s Layla Rivera had 15 points, 2 rebounds and a block in 79-21 season-opening loss to defending Division 4 state champ Cathedral.
Bridgewater-Raynham’s Lee Williams had 16 points, 11 rebounds and 8 blocks in a 79-46 season-opening win over New Heights Charter. Cam Santos (16 points, 10 rebounds), Noah Perry-Lewis (15 points, 5 assists), Jack Balutis (9 points) and Deshawn Faulk (7 points, 4 assists) also starred for the Trojans.
Milton’s Cole Fletcher scored 17 points in a 53-49 road win over Wellesley. Billy Rhee (11 points), Dylan Raffle (9 points) and Henry O’Brien (8 points) also starred for the Wildcats.
Weymouth’s Cole Smith scored 12 points and Jack Ryan added 9 in a 59-40 season-opening loss to Needham.
South Shore Tech got strong games from Patrick Jackson (14 points, 11 rebounds) and Cam Spinny (7 points) in a 52-41 loss to Avon.
Holbrook’s Allen Brown (30 points) and Odens Massillon (29 points) starred in a 73-58 win over South Shore Charter.
Norwell’s Matt Cerruti and Joe Perniola each had a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win over Sandwich in the Gormley Cup. Goaltender Will Devaney had a strong game.
Hanover topped Dover-Sherborn/Weston, 4-3, in double-overtime in the Gormley Cup.
Weymouth’s Naheem Ridore posted a victory in a 39-35 win over Framingham.
In a 54.66-45.33 win over Braintree, Weymouth got individual wins from Emma Daley (mile), Ainsley Weber (high jump), Leah Goodine (high hurdles), Madi Campbell (shot put) and Casey Dempsey (55 meters). Jess Harding was runner-up in the 600m.
