Auburn basketball continued its recent dominance with a 91-53 blowout win over Ohio State. The Tigers showed the Buckeyes why they are the No. 2 team in the nation, raining down 13 threes on a 43.3% clip while holding OSU to 35.3% shooting from the field.

After his squad’s convincing win, Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl credited one major factor that allowed his team to win by a whopping 38 points.

“I think part of the reason for the margin is our respect for Ohio State,” Pearl said in his postgame press conference. “Our respect for the program.”

Stacked with two-way talent, Pearl’s squad has played cohesive basketball on both ends of the floor through the first 10 games of the season. With their latest win, the Tigers recorded their largest-ever margin of victory against a high-major opponent.

Auburn has emerged as one of the heavy favorites to win a national championship in March. The Tigers have posted an incredible +35.01 net rating this season, per the updated KenPom college basketball rankings.

Auburn star Johni Broome made history with a 20-20 game

Auburn big man Johni Broome continued his strong argument for Naismith College Player of the Year, posting the first 20-20 game by a Tiger since 1989. Broome detonated for 21 points and 20 rebounds on 9/18 shooting. The superstar senior also added six assists and three blocks.

Broome is the only Division I player this season to finish a game with at least 20 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists. He has already done it three times in ten contests. He is also the first player in NCAA history to record 20 points, 20 rebounds, and five assists with zero turnovers.

Despite his historic stat line, Broome was not fully satisfied with his performance.

“I missed a lot of shots,” Broome said. “I feel like I can get better.”

Broome did miss nine shots, which Pearl even mentioned after the game. Even so, the 6-foot-10 stud put together one of the most complete performances of the 2024-25 college basketball season. It is scary to think that Broome can play even better than he did against the Buckeyes.

The college basketball world should be very afraid of Auburn right now. The red-hot Tigers will aim for a 10-1 record on Dec. 17 when they host Georgia State in front of their rowdy Neville Arena fans.
