Mannarino – Opelka: 17.07.2024 18:30 CEST
H2H: 0-3
Adrian Mannarino has lost four of his last five matches. We thought that his current poor form would get better on grass, where he delivers his best tennis usually. However, he struggled on that surface as well. The last match he played was at Wimbledon, where he lost against Gaël Monfils in the first round of the tournament. So far this season, Mannarino has played five grass court matches, and has a losing 1-4 record. Adrian is the defending champion here in Newport. Last year, Mannarino defeated Michelsen here in the final in straight sets.
Reilly Opelka has won three of her last five matches. His first match of the season went well for him. In his first round match here in Newport, Opelka defeated Lestienne in three sets. His serve looked like he never left. However, he had some ups and downs throughout the match. Reilly mentioned after the match that he felt fit on the court. Even though he is a big server and his game should fit the grass court surface perfectly, Reilly has a losing 8-14 record on grass.
According to the bookies, Mannarino is just the slight favorite in this matchup. Mannarino is in terrible form, but he is a way better grass court player than Opelka. We are still not sure if Opelka can get consecutive matches at this moment when he is still coming back from his injuries.
That being said, Mannarino winning is a value bet.

Nakashima – Bolt: 17.07.2024 21:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Brandon Nakashima has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago at Wimbledon, Nakashima lost his third round match against Humbert in four sets. Here in Newport, Brandon defeated Nava in straight sets in the first round of the tournament. Nakashima started the season ranked outside the top 100. However, his consistency brought him closer to his return returning to the top 50. So far this season, Nakashima has played 14 matches on grass, and has a winning 10-4 record.
Alex Bolt has won four of his last five matches. Here in Newport, Bolt fought through the qualifying tournament and got into the main-draw. In his qualifying tournament, Alex won both of his matches in straight sets. In the first main-draw round, Bolt defeated Mensik in straight sets once again. He is yet to lose a set here in Newport. Alex loves to play on grass, which is his favorite surface. He is looking to get a decent result in Newport, which will lead to him getting into the top 200.
According to the bookies, Nakashima is the favorite in this matchup. Bolt has done an amazing job so far in Newport, and we believe that he could win here against Brandon. We do not think that he should be an underdog in this matchup, so there is definitely value in betting on him.
That being said, Bolt winning is a value bet.
