Borges – Nishikori: 09.08.2024 19:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Nuno Borges has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Paris, Nuno lost in the second round of the Olympic Games against Navone. Just a week before that, Borges won the title in Bastad, winning against Nadal in straight sets. Here in Montreal, Borges defeated Kecmanovic in three tight sets. Yesterday in the second round, Nuno upset Humbert in three tight sets, after losing the first set. Last year, at this part of the season, Borges competed in three hard-court tournaments, and lost all of his matches in the first round.
Kei Nishikori has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Paris, Kei lost in the first round of the Olympic Games against Draper in straight sets. His fitness level is still questionable, but Kei is fighting hard to compete at the highest level. The former world number 4 has already played in one Masters tournament this season. It was in Miami, where he lost against Ofner in the first round of the tournament. Here in Montreal, Nisikori defeated Michelsen in the first round of the tournament. Yesterday in the second round, Nishikori upset Tsitsipas in straight sets. It was his biggest performance of the season. His biggest result here in Montreal was in 2015, when he reached the semifinals.
According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. Kei had an amazing second round performance yesterday, and looked 100% fit. We believe that his experience will prevail in this match, and that he will win another match here in Montreal.
That being said, Nishikori winning is a value bet.

Nakashima – Rublev: 09.08.2024 21:00 CEST
H2H: 1-1
Brandon Nakashima has won four of his last five matches. Here in Montreal, Nakashima fought through the qualifying tournament successfully. After that, Brandon won against Shapovalov in straight sets in the first main-round draw. Yesterday, in the second round, Nakashima upset Tommy Paul in three sets. Brandon was great under pressure, saving both breakpoints.
Andrey Rublev has won three of his last five matches. After his recent disappointing results, Andrey stepped up last week in Washington. He reached the quarterfinals, where he lost against Tiafoe in straight sets. Here in Montreal, Rublev won his first match against Etcheverry in straight sets as we predicted. At the beginning of the season, Rublev won the title in his first tournament of the season, which was in Hong Kong. After that, Andrey reached the quarterfinals at the Australian Open, where he lost against Sinner in straight sets.
According to the bookies, Nakashima is the underdog in this matchup. Rublev is not in the best form, and was not excellent in his first match here in Montreal. On the other hand, Brandon played great throughout the whole tournament. We believe that he will be a better player on the court, and win this match.
That being said, Nakashima winning is a value bet.
