The ATP Generali Open 2024 in Kitzbuhel is all set for a very exciting end as just the two deserving finalists remain to contest for the trophy. Both players are unseeded, but these are extremely strong clay courters and this promises to be a great match. As ever, we at LWOT preview and predict the final clash between Matteo Berrettini and Hugo Gaston.
Head to head – First Meeting
This is the first time these two are meeting each other and it should be a cracker of a contest. Matteo Berrettini is an aggressive baseliner and Hugo Gaston is a great defensive player especially on clay. The Italian is yet to drop a set while the Frenchman is very well rested after his semifinal opponent retired early in the second set.
Coming to this particular matchup, the courts are playing slightly quicker than a normal clay court and that should favor Berrettini with his ultra aggressive forehand and extremely flat slice backhand. Gaston will no doubt be on the back foot for most of the rallies and his defensive skills will be tested.

This matchup will be most likely be decided by how well Berrettini can hold his serve as he will get plenty of chances on Gaston’s serve. The Frenchman is a tenacious player and he does punch above his weight but it feels like Berrettini will be a player he will not be able to coerce into many errors. Expect Berrettini to win in a deciding set.
Prediction: Berrettini in 3
