We are down to the final match here in Chengdu, China in what has been a fantastic 2024 ATP Chengdu Open. Top seed Lorenzo Musetti faces home favorite Juncheng Shang and this promises to be a cracker of a match.
Head to head – First Meeting
Both men played their best match this week in their respective semifinal clash and that puts this match on knife’s edge. Lorenzo Musetti who did struggle in the initial rounds showed how motivated he is this week to gather up steam for appearing in the ATP Finals 2024 edition. The Italian made short work of Alibek Kachmazov and didn’t drop his serve even once.
On the other hand, Juncheng Shang has looked solid all week and riding the home support to great effect. The Chinese 19 year old has had a breakthrough 2024 season with an impressive 22-13 win loss record prior to the week. He is definitely a player to watch out for in the coming years and his first final appearance on the main tour will instil huge amounts of confidence.

Both players love the baseline but it feels like Musetti has currently got a bit more variety if he chooses to come to the net more often. Expect Shang to take the fight to the Italian and with the vociferous crowd behind him, the Chinese should be able to eke out a set but the Italian looks in good enough form to frustrate Shang with his more versatile play.
Prediction: Musetti in 3
