Musetti – O´Connell: 21.09.2024 08:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Lorenzo Musetti has won three of his last five matches. The last match he played was at the US Open, where he reached the third round, when he lost against Nakashima in four tight sets as we predicted. Musetti is still a top 20 player, and he is looking for some decent results in the next couple of weeks to cement his top 20 status. So far this season, Musetti has not had any remarkable results on the hard courts. Last year in Chengdu, Lorenzo reached the semifinals, where he lost against Safiullin in straight sets.
Christopher O’Connell has won five straight matches. Last week in Guangzhou, O’Connell won the challenger title, winning against Shimabukuro in the final. It was a great tournament preparation for the upcoming Asian swing. Here in Chengdu, O´Connell defeated Kotov in straight sets as we predicted. Christopher skipped a decent part of this season due to his injury. Besides winning this challenger title last week, Christopher did not have any remarkable results this season. Last year around this time, O’Connell reached the quarterfinals in Chengdu, when he lost against Dimitrov in straight sets.
According to the bookies, Musetti is the slight favorite in this matchup. We believe that this should be a 50-50 match. Christopher is a great server, and we believe that he will keep this match very tight, and might even win the match. Musetti underperformed on the faster courts, so we believe that he will struggle tomorrow.
That being said, O´Connell covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Gomez – Bublik: 21.09.2024 11:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Federico Agustin Gomez has won four of his last five matches. Here in Chengdu, Gomez fought successfully through the qualifying tournament. Gomez won both of his qualifying matches in straight sets easily. After that, Gomez upset Muller in the opening round of the main-draw. That was also his maiden win in the main-draw of an ATP tour level tournament.
Alexander Bublik has lost five straight matches. The last match he played was in the Davis Cup, where he lost against Moeller in three sets. Bublik looked terrible on the court. The last time he won was at Wimbledon, where he won against Cazaux in the second round of the tournament. Bublik is still a top 30 player, but if he keeps playing like this, soon enough, he will drop out of the top 50. Last year in Chengdu, Bublik lost his opening match against Giron in straight sets.
According to the bookies, Bublik is the slight favorite in this matchup. We believe that Bublik will find his way here in China. He loves to play under fast conditions such as this one. Gomez never had any success on the hard courts.
That being said, Bublik winning in straight sets is a value bet.
