Pooler, Ga. (WTOC) –
What happened to BigShots Golf coming to Pooler?
It’s a question a lot of people have been asking us.
You may remember we first brought you this story about two years ago when it was announced the golf range chain was coming to the area.
The golf and activity facility was set to open in the empty lot next to Costco off of Pooler Parkway after the city unanimously approved a height variance on the project.
At that time, then-Councilwoman Karen Williams told us BigShots Golf was set to open sometime in 2023 or 2024—but we then learned BigShots was bought out by their main competitor, Topgolf. Pooler offered Topgolf the same height variance to build in that same location.
Fast forward to today–that lot is still empty. We reached out to now-Mayor Williams. She says Topgolf fell silent after they bought out Bigshots, and the city hasn’t heard from them since. Mayor Williams says the height variance the city issued back in 2022 has now expired.
We also reached out to Topgolf—they sent us a statement saying:
At this time, we do not have any news to share regarding Pooler, GA.
So, it appears plans for the project are buried deep in the rough–at least for now. Not what many people in the Savannah area want to hear—but WTOC will keep you updated if anything changes!
