After a 23-year professional tennis career, Spanish star Rafael Nadal called it a career Thursday, announcing that he was retiring from the ATP tour.
One of the greatest tennis players of all time, Nadal leaves behind a historic legacy, as one of only three men to complete the Career Grand Slam, which includes a win at each of the four Grand Slam tournaments along with an Olympic gold medal. All in all, Nadal won 22 Grand Slam titles, including a record 14 French Open championships.
Now, fans can commemorate Nadal’s storied career with an official T-shirt available at Nike.com. The unisex tee features an iconic image of the Spanish tennis legend celebrating a win on the court.
OFFICIAL RELEASE
Rafa Tennis T-Shirt
The 100% cotton T-shirt depicts the tennis star with his signature headband and long hair (which he sported for much of his career). Nike says the tee “celebrates Rafa Nadal’s storied career filled with major championships since the very beginning,” adding that the material is “suited for wear on and off the court.”
Choose from sizes small to XXL at Nike.com. The Nadal T-shirt is selling quickly, especially after his retirement, so we recommend adding to cart while it’s still available.
Rafa NikeCourt Dri-FIT Tennis T-Shirt
Nike also has this Dri-FIT T-shirt available, featuring Nadal’s “raging bull” logo. Nike’s Dri-FIT material is designed to wick away sweat, helping you stay dry and comfortable while on the court, on a run, or just lounging around.
This T-shirt is available in black, white or baby blue and in sizes small to XXL.
Unstructured Rafa Cap
You can also get the bull logo as a Nike baseball cap, in black or white. Great for sports, the hat has the same sweat-wicking Dri-FIT material as the T-shirt above, helping you stay cool and dry. Nike says the lightweight fabric also helps with ventilation, so the cap is more breathable and less stuffy. The adjustable headband makes it easy to find a comfortable fit.
This hat is also sustainably made with at least 75% recycled polyester fibers. Choose from three sizes.
FAN MERCH
Ace2Eagle Rafa Nadal Long Sleeve Shirt
You can also pick up some fan-made Nadal merch online, like this sweatshirt from Amazon. Made from a heavyweight, pre-shrunk cotton, the sweatshirt features a silhouette of Nadal on the court, getting ready to serve. We like the taped neck and tapered sleeves, which make this a great sweatshirt to thrown on for everyday wear as well.
Choose from six colors in sizes small to 3XL.
OFFICIAL MEMOIR
Rafa
You can also read up on Nadal’s life and career with his official memoir, Rafa, which was first released in 2011. Written by the tennis star along with journalist John Carlin, the book chronicles his childhood in Mallorca to his rise up the ATP rankings, revealing “the secrets of his game” and “the inspiring personal story behind his success,” per the publisher notes. The book also details how he has overcome some of the hardships and challenges that have come his way, from family relationships to the numerous injuries that have threatened to derail his career.
Nadal announced his retirement in a video posted to social media, saying that “Everything has a beginning and an end, and I think it’s the appropriate time to put an end to a career that has been long and much more successful than I could have ever imagined.”
“I leave with the absolute peace of mind of having given my best, of having made an effort in every way,” he said, adding that “I have lived many moments that I will remember for the rest of my life.”
Of course it’s not goodbye just yet for Nadal: the Spaniard confirmed in the same video that his last tournament will be at the Davis Cup final next month in Spain.
