This lone and wide ruler (it’s 14 inches long by 4 inches wide) makes cutting straight lines super easy. Because it’s see-through, you can line up multiple points to insure you are making an accurate cut, plus it has incremental markings (1/4 inch, 1/2 inch, etc) so you have lots of options for sizing. Remember the adage— measure twice, cut once!

I pull out the glue gun almost every time I do a craft project. While it doesn’t work in every application (it won’t stick to soft rubbers, for example) it’s definitely the easiest and quickest way to tackle a project. I love thread and twine. It can be used in sewing, to make a garland, or to help hold a pom pom together (see above!) and one that is waxed is extra versatile. It sticks to itself so it’s great for tying a knot extra tight. It also hold a shape really well so makes the most perfect tiny bows.

I find myself reaching for an awl rather frequently. Whether it’s to create a night sky design on a pumpkin or make small holes in leather to create a custom koozie, this multipurpose tool is super handy and is always within reach.
