The banquet is set and the new inductees are ready to be honored.
The 2024 Arlington Sports Hall of Fame induction event is Wednesday, Oct. 9, beginning with a reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by the dinner and ceremony at 7:15 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
Five new inductees are scheduled to be honored, adding to the 68 athletes, coaches and contributors previously selected. The 2024 inductees are:
- Kas Allen: A Wakefield High School girls and George Washington University women’s basketball standout.
- Jim Bregman: An Olympic judo bronze medalist and member of the USA Judo Hall of Fame.
- Michelle Duhart Robinson: A multiple-sport Wakefield High School standout and a member of the NCAA women’s national championship Purdue University basketball team.
- Dan Pototsky: A standout baseball player at what then was Washington-Lee High School, then the same at the University of Kentucky. He also has been a successful baseball coach at W-L and other area high schools, as well as for various youth and other teams in Arlington and Northern Virginia.
- Kate Ziegler: A standout swimmer at Bishop O’Connell High School and a two-time member of the U.S. Olympic swimming team.
Also at the event, there will be a recognition of past inductees Tommy Orndorff, Bill Murray, Joe D’Emidio, Eric Sievers and Noel Deskins.
The rotating and portable Arlington Sports Hall of Fame display of inductees will be set up inside the hall.
