Area Girls Tennis: WDC’s doubles team, SM’s Noska advance to state

FARGO — Wadena-Deer Creek’s Anna Fiemeyer and Kaylee Endres dominated the Section 8-1A Individual Doubles bracket Saturday, Oct. 12, to advance to their first state tournament appearance.

Fiemeyer-Endres opened with a 6-1, 6-4 Semifinal victory over Addie Fee-Kaylie Clauson of Crookston and then dominated Thief River Falls’ Piper Greene-Brianne Ellison 6-2, 6-2 to win the section doubles title.

Staples-Motley’s Ronnie Noska took a longer route to complete her return to the Class 1A State Individual Tournament as she lost her semifinal match 6-3, 6-4 to Thief River Falls’ Braylee Wienen.

The SM sophomore rebounded with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Perham’s Kaia Anderson in the third-place match and was awarded a true-second match against East Grand Forks’ Ruby Leach. Noska took advantage and topped Leach 6-4, 6-0 to advance to state.

Semifinals: Braylee Wienen (Thief River Falls) def. Ronnie Noska (Staples-Motley 6-3, 6-4

Third-place: Noska def. Kaia Anderson (Perham) 6-3, 6-1

True 2nd: Noska def. Ruby Leach (East Grand Forks) 6-4, 6-0

Semifinals: Anna Fiemeyer-Kaylee Endres (Wadena-Deer Creek) def. Addie Fee-Kaylie Clauson 6-1, 6-4

Championship: Fiemeyer-Endres def. Piper Greene-Brianne Ellison (Thief River Falls) 6-2, 6-2.
