The Boston Celtics dropped their 13th game of the season to the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday, Jan. 19. Joe Mazzulla’s team made some critical errors in the dying moments of overtime, allowing the Hawks to take control of the scoreboard and secure their second win of the season over the reigning champions.
Boston’s offensive slump continued to hinder the team, with the Celtics shooting 28.8% from 3-point range as a collective. Mazzulla’s roster hasn’t been running many high-level actions in recent weeks. Rather, they’ve stuck to basic spread pick-and-roll and isolation plays after a lone ball screen.
During a recent video from the Celtics Chronicle YouTube Channel, hosts Adam Taylor and Billy Calabrese discussed the Celtics offensive regression, likening their current approach to the team’s final season under Brad Stevens’. They also touched on some questionable decisions from Mazzulla, such as benching Luke Kornet for Neemias Queta during the overtime period and a lack of actions that created success for the team last season.
