Waupaca knocks off Xavier in Bay Conference football game
The Waupaca football team used big plays to beat Xavier and clinch a spot in the WIAA playoffs.

KAUKAUNA – The third-seeded Ghosts made quick work of the Terrors, earning a 25-13, 25-14, 25-6 win in regional semifinal action.
The win moves Kaukauna to 27-8, while Appleton West finishes at 2-22.
Madison Tripp had a double-double for Kaukauna with 15 assists and 10 digs. Delaney Ward led with seven kills, while Keira Plate had five. Boe Kaschner had five digs.
The Ghosts will face sixth-seeded Green Bay Southwest on Saturday.
APPLETON – The Lightning defeated the Hornets 25-23, 25-15, 25-14 to advance to Saturday’s regional final.
The Lightning (17-20) will play at Xavier (25-15) in the regional final.
“I am proud of how our girls executed tonight,” Appleton North coach Steve Scheuerell said. “We are always happy to get a win in the playoffs. Survive and advance.”
NEENAH – The Rockets swept the Golden Raiders 25-12, 25-11, 25-14 to move on to Saturday’s Division 1 regional final.
The Rockets will host Oshkosh West, which beat Hartford 25-10, 25-21, 26-24.
APPLETON – The Hawks swept past the Jaguars 25-19, 25-20, 25-18 to advance to Saturday’s regional final against Appleton North.
Xavier, now 25-15 and seeded fourth, will be hosting the fifth-seeded Lightning.
Sydney Neilitz led Xavier with 29 assists. Madison Daley had 12 kills, while Grace Hackl had 13 digs. Ali Tylinski added nine kills and eight digs, Elle Downs had five kills and Jena Bunks had five digs.
Ashwaubenon finishes its season with a 6-18 record.
APPLETON – The Redbirds advanced to Saturday’s regional final with the 25-18, 25-15, 25-16 win over the Patriots.
De Pere will play at Kimberly against the Papermakers on Saturday.
De Pere is now 16-20. Appleton East finishes at 10-19.
DE PERE – The Phantoms defeated the Polar Bears 25-19, 25-20, 25-18 to advance to Saturday’s regional final match.
West De Pere will play second-seeded Bay Port in that regional final in Suamico.
WEST BEND – The Spartans defeated the Bluejays in three sets 25-16, 25-14, 25-12 to advance to Saturday’s regional final against Manitowoc.
Menasha closes the books on its season with a record of 8-11.
APPLETON – The Foxes defeated the Mustangs in three sets 25-21, 25-9, 25-15 to advance to Saturday’s regional final.
Riley Schmidt led Fox Valley Lutheran with 18 digs. Molly Bixby had 18 assists. Sophia Wunderlich had a team-high nine kills.
Fox Valley Lutheran will host Freedom on Saturday in the regional final.
Little Chute ends its season with a 7-21 record.
FREEDOM – The third-seeded Irish slipped past the sixth-seeded Vikings 25-17, 25-16, 25-17 in regional semifinal action.
Freedom moved to 20-6 on the season, while Denmark finishes at 6-13.
WAUPACA – The third-seeded Comets rolled over the sixth-seeded Red Robins 25-18, 25-8, 25-15 in regional semifinal action.
Waupaca, which moves to 20-9, will face second-seeded Mosinee on Saturday in regional final play. Antigo finishes its season at 19-10.
WINNECONNE – The fifth-seeded Hawks swept the fourth-seeded Wolves 25-23, 25-19, 25-15 to advance to Saturday’s regional final at top-seeded Oconto Falls.
With the win, Shawano moves to 25-7 while Winneconne finishes its season at 20-8.
AMHERST – The third-seeded Zephyrs stunned the second-seeded Falcons 25-13, 25-22, 25-19 to advance to Saturday’s regional final to face top-seeded Laconia.
Leading the way for the Zephyrs were Luci Nackers with 10 kills and 11 digs, Autumn Crowe with nine kills and 10 digs, Ava Rankin with 18 digs, Sammi Weiss with 12 assists and Stella Virlee with 11 assists and 11 digs.
Amherst finishes at 22-10.
ROSENDALE – The Spartans defeated the Warhawks 25-12, 25-14, 25-21 to move on to the regional title game.
Weyauwega-Fremont ends its season with a 22-10 record.
WRIGHTSTOWN – The Hatchets swept the Tigers 25-22, 25-20, 25-21 to advance to Saturday’s regional final.
Tomahawk will face Oconto in the regional final.

CEDAR GROVE – The third-seeded Rockets cruised past the sixth-seeded Lions 28-26, 25-13, 25-12 to advance to Saturday’s regional final.
Cedar Grove-Belgium is now 13-6, while Brillion finishes its season at 11-11.
BONDUEL – The top-seeded Bears came out strong and blanked the Truckers 25-12, 25-16, 25-15 in regional semifinal action.
Bonduel, which advanced to Saturday’s regional final, moves to 26-4 while Clintonville finishes its season at 5-21.
CHILTON – The Raiders defeated the Tigers 25-21, 25-20, 19-25, 25-21 to advance in the tournament.
Kiel will play at top-seeded Valders for the regional championship Saturday.
Chilton’s season ends with a record of 12-11.
STEVENS POINT – The second-seeded Cardinals started fast and cruised to the 25-14, 25-22, 25-16 win over the Chiefs.
The Cardinals advance to Saturday’s regional final against No. 3 Auburndale as Pacelli moves to 23-11, while Shiocton finishes 17-17 on the year.
AUBURNDALE – The Eagles swept the Wolves 25-17, 25-16, 25-17.
Auburndale will play at Pacelli for the regional title Saturday.
Manawa finishes with a 5-19 record.
GRESHAM – The fifth-seeded Wolves rolled past the fourth-seeded Wildcats 25-6, 25-12, 25-17 to advance to Saturday’s regional final at top-seeded Wausau Newman Catholic.
Hilbert is now 9-16, while Gresham finishes its season at 12-8.
APPLETON – The Hawks defeated the Wildcats comfortably to advance to Saturday’s regional final at home against Kewaskum.
Xavier is now 14-7-1.
Green Bay West finishes at 2-15-0.
APPLETON – The Foxes eliminated the Wolves in the regional semifinal to advance to Saturday’s regional final at Ripon against the host Tigers.
With the victory, Fox Valley Lutheran ups its record to 11-8-1.
Winneconne’s season comes to an end with a record of 5-12-3.
SHEBOYGAN FALLS – The fourth-seeded Falcons scored early and often and cruised past the Irish in regional action.
Sheboygan Falls moves to 12-4-2 and will face Plymouth in regional final action Saturday. Freedom finishes 3-16 on the year.
NEW LONDON – The third-seeded Bulldogs defeated the Hodags to advance to Saturday’s regional final.
New London, with a 13-4-2 record, will play at second-seeded Shawano for the regional title.
WAUPACA – The Thunder edged the Comets to move on to Saturday’s regional final against Lakeland.
Seymour is now 9-9-2.
Waupaca finishes its season with a record of 11-4-2.
CLINTONVILLE – After playing to a 1-1 tie, the eighth-seeded Truckers outlasted the Tigers on penalty kicks 5-4 to advance to Saturday’s regional final at Kiel.
The win moved Clintonville to 11-6-3 on the season, while Wrightstown finished 5-10-2.
